My mission is to develop student’s ability and passion to think and create visually, so they may become more effective communicators and problem solvers. Not everyone will be a professional artist but everyone can use the creative skills learned through art. I believe these skills can be learned and developed through hard work and practice regardless of the ability you begin with. School is a place for both teachers and students to learn, where mistakes are only an opportunity to grow.
I have been teaching at Glenwood Springs High School since 2008. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2002 where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, and subsequently my teaching license and Master's Degree in Education from Regis University in Denver.
I am interested in all artistic styles and disciplines but my own practice as an artist is grounded in drawing and painting. I am especially excited about bringing technology into the art realm at GSHS with my photography and graphic design classes.
