Artist Research Project
For this assignment you will research the artist you chose for your emulation painting and create a presentation at Prezi.com
You should have already filled out an info. sheet about your artist when you chose your painting, which will make make your job easier. If not, you may find it useful to download, print, and complete the info. sheet.
Your presentation should include:
1. A picture of the artist (this could be a photo or a self-portrait painting), the artist's name, date of birth/death, and nationality.
2. A picture of the painting you emulated, along with the title, date, and medium.
3. A picture of at least 2 more works of art by this artist (could be paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints etc.). You must also list the title, date and medium for these pieces.
4. The genre, movement, or style your artist was associated with in art history e.g. realism, impressionism, pointillism, expressionism, fauvism, cubism, surrealism etc. as well as a definition of that style/movement.
For example: Pablo Picasso was a member of the cubist movement (among others) which depicted subjects from multiple points of view simultaneously and made use of simple geometric shapes, sharp angles, interlocking planes, and collage. Cubism was a reaction against traditional modes of representation and was inspired by the later works of Paul Cezanne and African Sculpture. Picasso himself started the movement along with another artist named Georges Braque.
5. One particularly interesting fact about your artist. Don't just write down the first thing you learn about them, dig deeper, artists are interesting people, sometimes even bizarre!
