Photography at GSHS is a yearlong course exploring the technical and artistic aspects of both digital and black and white film photography. Students will learn about camera functions, composition, editing software, and how to develop film and print photos in the darkroom. At the end of the semester each student will have an online portfolio they will be able to share with family and friends through Google Photos.
Required Supplies: these supplies are NOT provided by the school and must be acquired by the student in order to participate.
Objectives: by the end of this course, students will be able too...
1. Understand and apply digital camera functions: shutter, aperture, and lens.
2. Know and apply guidelines for better photographic composition.
3. Apply correct exposure techniques in the field, evaluate photos for exposure quality, and make corrections with editing software.
4. Create photographs that meet the purposes of different subjects and styles: landscape, portrait, and action.
5. Critique, analyze, and evaluate photographs to make improvements using techniques learned.

- Digital Camera (cell phone camera is fine)
- Instruction book for camera (available online from the manufacturer’s website if lost)
- Memory card (@ least 1 gigabyte recommended)
- Batteries and charger for the camera (keep them charged!)
- USB cable or card reader or Google Photos App (to upload photos to computer at school)
